Now it can take a few sessions to build a level of deep trust, but having an initial consultation with a prospective coach is very beneficial for getting a sense that the coach is a good match.
WHAT IS LIFE COACHING?
Life coaching is truly its own unique service designed to help ambitious achievers meet the outcomes that will bring them success and fulfillment. In life coaching, a client works with a coach, who is not a healthcare professional, in order to clarify goals and identify obstacles and problematic behaviors in order to create action plans to achieve desired results.The process of life coaching takes the client’s current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM WORKING WITH A COACH?
Anyone who wants to improve any part of their life. The key here is that the person wants to actively engage in the process. Life coaching is designed for mentally healthy people who simply need help to get to the next level in life. These are people that do not require therapy or some sort of medical diagnosis, but still need some level of help, assistance, and clarity in a nonjudgmental environment.
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THERAPY?
A therapist offers medical diagnosis and clinical treatment for people dealing with past trauma, destructive relationships, divorce, loss of a loved one, depression and anxiety that prevents their ability to function at home or work. Not all their clients are ill, and many healthy people benefit from a therapist's services.
WHAT IS A COACHING SESSION LIKE?
Most coaching session will occur over the phone, but can be in-person of the client chooses. Many clients appreciate the convenience of conducting session over the phone since they do not have to spend time traveling to an office.
The exact content will vary depending on the types of goals we are trying to achieve. In general coaching involve a lot of sharing and ideation. You should expect the coach to generally be caring and inquisitive. A coach is trained to identify blocking thoughts, actions and patterns you may, or more importantly may not be aware of. A coach will bring these forward and help you breakthrough these sticking points into a more positive place. As a client you are in control of what and how much you are comfortable working on. However if you want to work on deeper, more emotional things your coach will go there with you.
